Description: This is a story about two students who attend the same high school: Lisa, a smart and athletic girl; and Mike, a handsome but lazy student. One day during home room time, Ms. Johnson calls out to her students for some volunteers to help with a pet project she's working on. The first student to agree is Lisa, eager to show off her smarts and do something good for the school. After getting permission from her parents, Lisa goes to work on the project at home. At first, things are going well—she's organized all of the supplies, written up an explanation for how everything works, even made some prototype versions. However, as the hours tick by, Lisa starts to feel a bit drained and tired. She wishes Mike would help out, but he seems to be more interested in playing video games than doing any work at all. Frustrated, she decides to call it quits and go to bed early. The next day at school, Lisa tells Ms. Johnson about what happened the previous night—that Mike was supposed to help with the project, but didn't. But Ms. Johnson doesn't buy it; she thinks Lisa is just being lazy and slacking off on her homework again. Lisa protests, but Ms. Johnson is not convinced. Finally, she agrees to let Lisa complete the project by herself—but only if she promises to turn it in before the deadline. Lisa accepts the challenge, but deep down inside, she's worried about finishing everything on time. Then, Mike comes to her aid, offering to help out with the project after all! He suggests they work together, so Lisa gladly accepts his offer. They spend hours working side by side, occasionally arguing about how things should be done (especially when it comes to color schemes), but ultimately they complete the pet project before the deadline. Ms. Johnson commends them for their hard work, and even rewards them with a special certificate of achievement. Lisa is overjoyed and finally feels like she's accomplished something meaningful with Mike by her side. Their bond grows stronger each day, until they finally start to date—and fall in love.
