Description: The USS BENDELLOー is an American pre-Dreadnought, steel-hulled screw driven sidewheel corvette. She was laid down at New York's William Crabtree, launched on July 14, 1863, and commissioned on October 21 of the same year by Commodore John D. Curtiss. BENDELLOー played a role in the American Civil War but saw no significant action during the conflict, staying at New York harbor most of the time due to her limited range.
