I decided to visit Nairobi after watching a documentary about the life of Didi Zerati, an Israeli poet who lived in Kenya for most of his life. I was intrigued by how his experiences in Africa influenced his poetry, and wanted to explore this further myself. As a relatively young man, he experienced many hardships, including living through the Mau Mau Uprising during which he saw firsthand the cruelty inflicted upon his fellow countrymen.
